6 Ways to Make Your Heat Pump More Efficient |
|
|
| 1. |
Keep doors closed and stick to lower temperatures in rooms that you’re not using, so the warm air stays in the spaces where you need it. |
| 2. |
Set your heat pump’s fan to “automatic.” Medium and high settings use more energy. |
| 3. |
Stick to a comfortable temperature that works for your household. Frequent adjustments aren’t efficient. For each degree you lower the thermostat below 68 degrees, you can save up to 5% on heating costs. |
| 4. |
Use a programmable thermostat to set a schedule that lets your heat pump take a break while you’re out of the house. |
| 5. |
Keep air filters and ducts clean and clear. Getting rid of dust or buildup can keep heat flowing more efficiently. |
| 6. |
Limited time offer: As a Clean Heat participant, you get an additional $1,000 incentive for weatherizing your home before March 31, 2023. That’s on top of the $1,000 incentive available to all customers, for a total of $2,000. Tackling drafts and air leaks now before it gets even colder can help your heat pump work more efficiently. |
